Allwyn announces partnership with Future Frames including new Hollywood scholarship for talented directors at Karlovy Vary International Film Festival

LUCERNE, Switzerland – 25 April 2023 – Allwyn AG (“Allwyn”), a leading multi-national lottery operator, today announces a three-year partnership with the Future Frames program, part of the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival (“Karlovy Vary IFF”), that will afford an emerging European director the chance to work with the best in Hollywood.

Allwyn, in collaboration with Future Frames, announces it will sponsor a new month-long scholarship to Los Angeles for one director each year to learn from the best in the film industry, with a dedicated program of mentoring, shadowing and training.

Since 2015, the Future Frames program has enabled European directors to launch their careers in the film industry. Each year, ten promising directors are invited to the Karlovy Vary IFF to showcase their films, receive tailored mentorship and training, and build relationships with people established in the industry. Now, Allwyn’s partnership expands the opportunity globally.

Also as part of the partnership, Allwyn is introducing an awards ceremony during the festival that will celebrate the work of all ten selected directors.

Established in 1946, the Karlovy Vary IFF is one of the oldest European film festivals. It takes place this year from 30th June to 8th July 2023.

About Future Frames

Since it started in 2015, Future Frames presents ten outstanding emerging directors from Europe each year at the Karlovy Vary IFF. Recommended by the European Film Promotion member organisations and selected by a team at Karlovy Vary IFF, the ten outstanding film students and graduates from schools throughout Europe take part in a tailor made programme - containing training, networking and promotion to kick-start their international film careers. The young professionals also take part in an exclusive masterclass with an internationally renowned filmmaker and have industry meetings with festival programmers, world sales agents, producers, film funders and other important industry members.
